Hey there gorgeous creatures!
Have I ever mentioned my love of multi-tasking? Because let me get real here; if I can gain a little more personal time by knocking 2 things off my to-do this at once, I’m totally going to do it. That holds true for my skincare routine. That being said, let me introduce one of my favourite ideas for a product: a sleep mask. I can care for my skin and work on flawless complexion, all while I’m dreaming of travelling to Bali? Why wouldn’t I get excited about that?
The particular sleep mask I tried out for you this time is the Avant 8 Hour Radiance Renewal Sleeping Mask.

So there is a few variables here I need to be very open about before continuing on with the results of my trial. Number 1, I had this product stashed because I had so many different skincare items to try, I can’t remember if it came from Boxycharm or Influenster. Number 2, I was travelling while I tried this which may have impacted the results. Number 3, the only place I can currently find this to buy is in the United Kingdom, but we will get into more of that in a few minutes.
This product uses shea butter, and rice bran (among other things like panthenol and polydecene) to achieve intense moisturizing, and the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. There are zero recommendations for how often to use it on the travel sized tube (which is what is pictured there). From my online research the recommendation was 2-3 times a week. I applied every other night before bed.

So in this picture above, I had just applied the product for the first time ever. I have some uneven complexion spots but this product isn’t claiming too help that. I am starting to have some issues with forehead wrinkles, and areas of dryness in my t-zone and chin. Overall, my skin has looked worse in the beginning stages of trying products. I was hoping at this point I’d still be able to notice results.

This is after 2 applications. You can see some dryness starting to get worse under my bottom lip area. I know at this point I was definitely feeling the dryness starting. I know the picture is a little low on my giant forehead, but I see a reduction in the obviousness of the forehead wrinkles. The crow’s feet are going strong, there’s no change in those after 2 applications.

This is my face after 6 applications (so about 2 weeks). My camera is not picking up the flakiness that is happening on my chin here. That red spot on my chin is a direct result of this product drying my chin out. As far as the dryness went, my chin took the brunt of the damage from that. Maybe it’s because of my combination skin type, but I literally lost layers of skin on my chin and it was bright red for 3 days after stopping use.
On the flip side of this though, my forehead wrinkles were barely noticeable at all. And did you notice how the crow’s feet aren’t as obvious either?
So what are the details? Well, remember how I said I can only find the product in the UK right now? Well it’s also HELLA expensive, BUT at this current time the product is actually on Buy one, Get one free on the company website for Avant (click here to go to the website directly) It’s 84 pounds sterling, and comes to approximately $142.00 in Canadian currency before shipping.
So honestly, I’m really conflicted about this mask. On the one hand it really showed up for the wrinkles and I’m living for it. BUT I definitely don’t love what it did to my chin as far as drying out my skin and literally sacrificing layers to the universe. Also, that price is crazy expensive if you consider the fact that shipping hasn’t been factored in yet.
I don’t think I’d ever buy it again. I do think I’d like to continue using it on my forehead. That seems to be the only are for that it agrees with. What do you think? Could travelling have affected the dryness I experienced in my chin? Should I give it another try once my skin reacclimates to Nova Scotia conditions? Shoot me an email or let me know what you think on the Glamcrow Cosmetics facebook page.
I’m super pumped to be getting back into my rhythm, I missed sharing with everyone so much. I look forward to hearing from you all and sharing our favourite and not-so favourite products together.
‘Til next time,
Nikki Nyghtmare xoxo
